Karres en Brands selected for redevelopment Arenawijk Deurne

We have been selected for the final round of the design competition for the redevelopment of the Arenawijk (district) in Deurne. Karres and Brands (landscape / urban development), together with HUB architects (architecture / urban development), Callebaut architects (heritage) and GoudappelCoffeng (mobility), form the multidisciplinary team.

In the future the area will be a green, car-free district that focuses on comfortable passageways for cyclists and pedestrians. Renaat Braem's patrimony with heritage value is being restored and renovated. Other buildings in the area are being replaced. There will be a mix of private and social housing and public facilities such as a sports hall and primary school. The subject of the assignment is the development of a plan for the redevelopment of the Arenawijk.

If all goes well, a design team will be selected by the end of 2020 to draw up a plan for the redevelopment of the Arenawijk. From the candidates, three design teams have now been selected for the final round to participate in the final phase of the competition: HUB / Karres en Brands, BULK architects and Metapolis.
