Karres en Brands is selected as one of 12 international offices to compete for the design of one of Hamburg’s newest Districts. 
Located in the heart of Hamburg, opposite to HafenCity, with a characteristic three docks structure, the site offers the potential to create inner-city qualities on the southern bank of the Elbe. The ambitious new district will be at least CO2 neutral and follow principles of circular economy. It aims to stimulate an innovation district in Hamburg with important impulses for sustainable environmental, social and economic development in the city. 

The 12 offices will compete in 2 groups (urbanism and public space) during an intensive and open dialogue process. Next to Karres en Brands other offices include MVRDV, Herzog de Meuron, KCAP, ADEPT, Vogt, Atelier Loidl and Studio Vulkan.
